REVIEWS SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN!
DEADLINE: ONGOING
What we are looking for
At MIROnline we love books (really all kinds of them!) and we are very happy to read a wide variety of book review submissions. What we value most is writing that engages closely with the work, is thought-provoking and brings out a sense of the reviewers personal experience of the book/s. We welcome reviews across all genres of fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction.
We welcome international writers to submit but we only consider work written in English.
Submission Guidelines
‘Single Title’ review: 900 – 1,200 words
‘Feature-style’ review: 1,200 – 2,000 words
Submit via email: mironlineeditor@gmail.com
If you are submitting more than one piece of work, please make this clear in your submission email.
Definitions
A ‘single title’ review is a shorter, focused review that looks at a single book. While it may reference other works, the piece’s priority is to review the book in question. For example, ‘Mrs S by K Patrick, Book Review’ would be a single book review.
A ‘feature-style’ review is a more flexible, longer-form piece that reviews a book or books by connecting them to a wider theme. It is closer to an essay and aims to review the books on the basis of the theme and provide a personal view on the experience of reading them. For example, ‘Wicca Feminists? Shirley Jackson and Olga Tokarczuk’ might be a ‘Feature-style’ review that could examine Jackon and Tokarczuk’s shared connections between forms of witchcraft and female empowerment in Jackon’s We Have Always Lived in The Castle and Tokarczuk’s Drive Your Plow Over The Bones of The Dead.
