The Birkbeck BA Creative Writing programme’s literary journals are now inviting submissions from all BA Creative Writing students for their new editions, to be published as eBooks in June 2017.
44 Square: Fiction and 45 Square: Poetry are created by fourth year students on the BACW’s Publishing Project module, and will contain selected writing from undergraduate creative writing students only. The finished eJournals will be distributed free to all CW students, as well as to selected literary agents and editors.
Both eJournals will be launched with a special reading event at the end of the summer term, and guests from the publishing industry will be invited to attend. Don’t miss this great opportunity to get your work published and read.
The deadline for submissions is 6pm on Friday 24 March 2017.
Submission Guidelines
If you would like your story/poems to be considered by the editorial boards, the following guidelines must be strictly adhered to. If they are not, your story/poems will not be read. (No member of the editorial board from either journal can publish their own work in their own publication, and submissions are anonymised).

Wordcount for fiction is up to 5000 words. Please submit your work as an MS Word file or PDF. The manuscript pages should be numbered and must show the story’s title on every page but must not include the author’s name. Please provide your name, the title of your submitted story, and relevant contact information in the email accompanying your submissions. Deadline: 6pm, Friday 24 March 2017.
