Poetry by Selma Carvalho
In Colder Climes
Surviving the drift-ice
of shifting polar caps
rotating on an axis
of silence, the intrepid wife
sloughed off winter’s
dead skin in soapsuds
at the kitchen sink
as dirty plates prattled on.
